Everyone talks about how to build an MVP — but very few talk about the mistakes that quietly destroy startups before they even launch.
After helping 60+ founders build SaaS products, mobile apps, AI tools, and dashboards, I’ve seen the same errors repeat over and over.
If you’re building right now (or planning to), read this before you write a single feature list.
❌ Mistake #1 — Trying to Build Version 5 Instead of Version 1

Most founders start with a full-feature wishlist:
- multiple dashboards
- complex onboarding
- 3 user roles
- advanced analytics
- messaging
- notifications
- gamification
- subscriptions
- AI
- integrations
You don’t need that.
Your MVP should only do one thing extremely well.
Everything else can be phased in after your first users validate the idea.
❌ Mistake #2 — Picking the Wrong Tech Stack

Founders often choose based on hype:
- “Bubble is too simple.”
- “React is the only real tech.”
- “Webflow can do everything.”
But the right choice depends on speed, logic, scale, and budget.
When Bubble is perfect:
- SaaS
- internal tools
- client portals
- booking systems
- CRM-like workflows
When React/Next.js is better:
- real-time apps
- custom logic
- mobile apps (React Native)
- complex API systems
When hybrid (Bubble + Supabase) wins:
- You want no-code speed + real backend power.
If you're unsure, talk to an experienced MVP developer before deciding.
❌ Mistake #3 — Overcomplicating the User Flow

A confusing user flow means:
- higher churn
- more support tickets
- slower development
- more bugs
Your MVP should feel simple:
- One clear onboarding path
- Minimal steps to value
- No extra clicks
- No optional settings
Clean UX reduces development cost and increases conversions.
❌ Mistake #4 — Not Defining Success Metrics
Founders often say:
“We’ll figure it out after launch.”
No.
Before writing a single line of code, answer:
- What does success look like after 30 days?
- How many users count as validation?
- What is the core action your user must complete?
If you don’t measure it, you cannot improve it.
❌ Mistake #5 — Hiring the Wrong Developer or Agency

This one destroys more startups than anything else.
Common red flags:
- No portfolio
- Vague pricing
- No weekly updates
- No clear timeline
- No founder-friendly communication
- Overpromising (“We can build anything in 1 week”)
A great Bubble developer, React developer, or MVP studio will:
- define scope
- break work into milestones
- communicate weekly
- test properly
- deliver clean UX
- help you avoid unnecessary features
Saving money on the wrong developer always ends up costing more later.
❌ Mistake #6 — Building Without Real Users Ready
An MVP without users is just a guess.
You need:
- early testers
- feedback loops
- a small, real audience
- a landing page collecting emails
Before development even begins, recruit 3–20 people who want the product.
When we build MVPs at JetBuild Studio, we often help founders test their early assumptions before coding anything.
❌ Mistake #7 — Launching Too Late

The #1 killer of momentum is:
“Let’s add just one more feature before we launch.”
No.
Launch early → learn → iterate → scale.
Your MVP is meant to be Version 1, not a finished product.
✅ How to Avoid All 7 Mistakes
Here’s the formula we use with founders:
✔ Step 1 — Define the core problem
✔ Step 2 — Select the fastest stack (Bubble, React, or hybrid)
✔ Step 3 — Build only essential features
✔ Step 4 — Launch within 3–6 weeks
✔ Step 5 — Measure user behavior
✔ Step 6 — Iterate based on real data
This framework has helped dozens of founders ship revenue-ready MVPs without wasting months.
